Greenfields lobby group to continue NBN fight: report
A consortium of greenfield fibre operators are reportedly set to escalate their campaign against what they describe as anti-competitive behaviour by NBN Co, despite the fact that a Productivity Commission investigation into the issues raised lead to no action.
According to iTNews, the Greenfield Fibre Operators in Australia (GFOA) lobby group - comprising operators OPENetworks, Comverge Networks and Service Elements – are set to lodge a formal complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in the upcoming weeks.
The GFOA wants the regulator to investigate NBN Co’s behaviour when it comes to competing for new development work.
According to the group, NBN Co is in breach of s46 of the Competition and Consumer Act by offering free installation to new housing estate developers.
The GFOA argues its members can't compete with the government-funded NBN Co, giving the NBN wholesaler an unfair advantage in winning greenfields work.
